Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver” to Be Co-Financed by Tom Rothman’s TriStar and MRC

As printed by the Hollywood Reporter on January 13th, Edgar Wright’s new film, Baby Driver, will be co-financed by Tom Rothman and TriStar with MRC in a 50-50 split. The film is based on Wright’s original story of a getaway driver and the heist that just might put him out of the game. Judging from the way the film is being described, music will play a central role in the main character’s journey as he navigates the criminal underground. The project is being produced by Working Title and Nira Park, longtime collaborators of Wright’s.

Apparently, Ansel Elgort of The Fault in Our Stars is being considered for the lead role. The young actor, represented by CAA, Brookside Artist Management, and Morris Yorn, is just about to see the release of his latest film, Insurgent, in March.
The Hollywood Reporter published Tom Rothman’s words on the new venture: “We’re delighted to be riding shotgun as Edgar Wright takes the wheel of his next film. TriStar is in the business of backing original voices, and he is all that. Working Title are great producers and MRC great partners. They and Edgar are making the ultimate rock-and-roll car chase film and together we’re buckled up and ready to go.”
