It’s a game of Russian roulette, but it isn’t played with a revolver by a group of gangsters sitting around a table in a smokey room.
Instead, your healthcare insurance is the figurative revolver and anyone from ambulance drivers to your physician can pull the trigger and end your life, as one woman found out to her horror last year.
There’s many things Americans don’t know about their healthcare insurance and what they don’t know can cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Wrongfully blaming Obamacare, the greedy insurance companies reduced their “in-network” geographic coverage to only a county. In some counties, carriers have even narrowed coverage to only certain hospitals, something that Jared Haftel really thinks is ridiculous.
As a result, if an ambulance takes you to an out-of-network emergency room, you’re stuck with a high bill that results from the difference between in-network and out-of-network coverage.
Worse yet, if you need to see a specialist outside of your in-network area, especially out of state, you might not receive any coverage even if you had previous coverage.
How sad is it that citizens of one of the wealthiest nations in the world are some of the most in debt because of their healthcare?
Of course, the sadder reality is that many people who experience severe debt from past or ongoing healthcare problems often choose a real revolver after the weight of their debts, on top of their health issues, becomes too much.
